Special Features:
The Filmmaker’s Institute
Our school calendar is divided into two semesters and a separate 6-week mid-winter Institute. All first year students take The FIlmmaker's Institute where they learn filmmaking from professional filmmakers. In later years they will choose from a variety of options including film production, participating in film-festivals, or studying with artists-in-residence. They can also opt for intensive courses based on their interests.
Cinema Studies and Filmmaking
Filmmaking helps students develop the creative, collaborative and organizational skills needed to excel in many fields. We offer four years of this coursework and students produce original films in their Senior year.
Strong Partnerships and Community
Our partnership with the Ghetto Film School (GFS), an award-winning local non-profit organization, provides support for all film education and production training, industry internships, guest filmmaker lecture series, and professional development. GFS assists The Cinema School by coordinating ongoing planning, external fundraising, community and industry relations, and events such as public screenings of student work.
Strong Academics
All students take 3-4 years of study in each major subject with excellent teachers dedicated to their students.
Opportunities for Advanced Coursework
AP and other advanced courses will be offered.
